Here’s the latest batch of fanmail I get to sort through. At least one of these better be a gift for me!

At The Brattle Theater in Cambridge. Fresh popcorn with real butter and an ice cold beer. Awesomeness. They play great music before the movie and are genuinely friendly. Wow. Sorta blown away.

Reason #22 to love my job: FREE MAGAZINES! NYLON guys, SOMA, Giant Robot, ANTENNA, metropop, EW, etc… it’s like $200 a month.
I don’t post a lot about politics… but it struck me today that all of these so-called “intelligence experts” for the US making their threat assesments are about as reliable as Miss Cleo or Carnac the Magnificent. “There may or may not be a attack or an attempted attack somewhere in the next 3-6 months or at least within the next 12 months… maybe.” Humbug. Just give me my lottery numbers.

SONY Recycle Project Jeans
To communicate their “farm fresh” approach Sony recently recycled cast-off advertising banners into a collection of jeans. Called the “Recycle Project Jeans,” the concept used ads which were displayed on the side of their building in Japan, in turn hanging and selling the upcycled product on that same wall.
Sony, recognizing that (much like wine or sushi) some things are just better at their point of origin, makes a point about locale with the project. Hanging the jeans on the building where the fabric originates emphasizes the repurposing concept, reinforcing the roots of the brand’s idea.
Each of the 120 handmade completely unique pairs sells directly from the wall. Passersby and potential customers peer at the jeans through supplied binoculars and once selected, someone rappels down the side of the building to remove the pair of colorful pants.
The project not only cleverly experiments with recycling, but all of the money from the sales supports World Heritage sites.

Strange face
With your eyes
So pale and sincere
Underneath you know well
You have nothing to fear
For the dreams that came
To you when so young
Told of a life
Where spring is sprung
You would seem so frail
In the cold of the night
When the armies of emotion
Go out to fight
But while the earth
Sinks to it’s grave
You sail to the sky
On the crest of a wave
So forget this cruel world
Where I belong
I’ll just sit and wait
And sing my song
And if one day you should see me in the crowd
Lend a hand and lift me
To your place in the cloud

I spent the entire day cleaning whilst being serenaded by R.E.M., Postal Service, Prince, Lucinda Williams and Pink Floyd. It’s looking pretty damn good. Now I need to tackle the storage room. =)
